Privacy for High-Profile Clients

For requests to keep all photos including your likeness (faces and/or logos) private.

NOTE: I do not sell photos to stock photo companies and I don't run ads. I would never put your sensitive clothesless (such as nude maternity sessions) online. I just occasionally like to feature beautiful sessions on my blog and my facebook page, or update my website portfolio. If you prefer I not do that, see below.

I completely understand your request for privacy, whether we are working together on a corporate marketing strategy, an exclusive wedding, or an intimate family portrait session. The options below are one-time fees that keep your photos private forever.

Sample client Privacy requests:

"I’m interested in booking a family portrait session but my husband’s job is high-profile, we don’t want the images appearing on your website, even if we aren't tagged."

"I am interested in booking an engagement session but due to the nature of my fiancé’s job, we don’t want the photos shared on your website or social media."

"Our religion and families do not allow us to drink, but hey - we are celebrating our anniversary with a few sips of champagne! Can you not put our photos in your portfolio?"

"We are journalists and we don’t want you to use our likeness on your website/blog/social media. We just don’t want the general public to see our personal lives and harass us."

"I'd like to book you for our company event / conference, and we want to keep this a private, internal-access only event."

Not a problem, and I completely understand! The best option for you is one of the privacy agreements listed above. It’s a one-time fee that will put your photos under extra lockdown (while still allowing you easy access to download, print, and share your gallery).

That means I will never use your photos in any type of portfolio (website, social media, blog, etc)  -  they will just sit in your gallery forever for your exclusive personal use.

If you decide to release your photos to social media (FB, IG, Tumblr, etc), you must tag my business or include a brief “Photo Credit Lincoln Photography” line somewhere, even if you are just sharing with a private account to family members. A simple credit line suffices (Photo by Lincoln Photography), or simply tag my account.

If a third party publishes your photos (anyone other than you, the client), photo credit must be included. Simply tag Lincoln Photography, or include a byline in the description Photos by Lincoln Photography, etc. This includes but is not limited to, family members, friends, blogs, websites, print or online magazines/newspapers/journals, etc.

PRINTING - my general policy included with all session bookings
Yes, you can print at CVS or Costco as much as you want. You do not need to ask me or pay me for that. The photos are for your personal use, whether you print them, email them to friends and family, send Christmas cards, etc.

Just download your photos from your gallery to your computer and print them anywhere. I cannot guarantee sharpness + color accuracy in this case, but I won’t stop you  :) This is included in all bookings.

You can also print professionally through your gallery - I have partnered with the country’s leading professional photo printing companies to offer you the highest quality prints and enlargements.

FAQs

I’m just getting a headshot. Can I submit my photo to xyz company for their internal newsletter announcing my speaking engagement or do I have to pay you some extra fee for that?

No problem, and no fees :)   Just copy and paste the following when you email your headshot:

"Please include a byline to the photographer - © Lincoln Photography or Photo courtesy of Lincoln Photography".

It's a very standard, easy to include credit. It's simple and easy, and the graphic design or marketing team will know exactly what to do.

This is stupid and unfair. Just don’t put my photos online. Why do you have to charge a fee?

The fee keeps everyone on the same page regarding privacy. By choosing one of the above privacy options, you let me know exactly what your expectations are. This will help me better serve you, my client. Thank you for understanding!

Well, for example, when I commission a painting, I own that painting. I own the copyright.

Only if the artist specifically gave/sold you the copyright. You may own the painting to hang in your house, but you can't reproduce or sell prints without the artist's consent.

I am booking your photography services and am just curious what your general policies are.

I would *love* to add a couple amazing photos from your session on my website or blog, or even feature you on facebook! That’s pretty much the extent of it. No billboards (unless I suddenly become ultra famous, in that case I'll ask you), and no sales to stock photo companies.

Of course I would never show anyone else nude or partially nude photos that we’ve taken (mostly applicable to maternity and newborn sessions, or portrait sessions). Those are your private moments, and unless you post it yourself to social media, I will be discreet. I’m mostly interested in posting those laughter-filled family moments, or emotional hugging moments as I continue to update and expand my website and offerings.

All galleries are password-protected. You can share the link + password with anyone you choose. Anyone with the link + password can view and download the photos from your gallery. This is included in all bookings.
